Henry “Hank” Weiss Memorial Climate Education Endowment

I am pleased to share that another gift has come to our department. UCLA music alumna, Suzanne Weiss Morgen ’74, has made a gift for an endowment to the UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences in memory of her father and meteorology alumnus, Henry “Hank” Weiss ‘47.

Hank’s lifelong dedication and career in the field prompted Suzanne to recognize him with a generous gift to establish the Henry “Hank” Weiss Memorial Climate Education Endowment. These funds will enable the creation of a biennial event, in collaboration with the UCLA Center for Climate Science, geared toward climate education for the UCLA audience, high school students, and the general public. As climate science continues to evolve into one of the most pressing issues facing our world today, this event is destined to have a transformative outcome in the community for many years to come. The endowment will be matched one to one by the Dean of Physical Sciences, Miguel Garcia-Garibay, doubling its impact.

A special thank you to Professor Alex Hall, Elizabeth Trejo (Assistant Director of Development), and Katharine Reich (Associate Director, Strategic Planning and Communications for UCLA Center for Climate Science) for helping make this gift happen.
