Abstract:
Ralph Morris has been an air quality consultant for over 40 years. He started his air quality consulting career in 1979 modeling ozone in Los Angles for a June 1974 episode (peak ozone of 450 ppb) using one of the first photochemical grid models (PGM), the Urban Air Shed Model (UAM). More recently he is one of the leaders in the development of the Comprehensive Air Quality Model with extensions (CAMx; www.camx.com) and routinely uses Ramboll’s CAMx and EPA’s CMAQ PGMs, along with WRF meteorological and SMOKE emissions models, for a variety of projects. This talk will discuss several recent Ramboll air quality projects that include air quality modeling for ozone, particulate matter and regional haze State Implementation Plans (SIPs) to demonstrate attainment health-based National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and show progress toward visibility goals at National Parks and other Class I areas. He will also discuss recent emission inventory improvement and chemical mechanism development studies.
