The Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences would like to congratulate professor Kuo-Nan Liou for receiving the Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal, the highest award from the American Meterological Society (AMS). Professor Liou was recognized by the AMS “For intellectual leadership and seminal contributions to improving the theory and application of atmospheric radiative transfer and its interactions with clouds and aerosols”. Previously in 2013 Liou was awarded the Roger Revelle Medal, the highest award from the America Geophyiscal Union.
