Research in our group focuses on turbulence dynamics and turbulent transport in atmospheric and oceanic boundary layers. Our approach combines numerical simulations, field experiments, and analytical tools to better understand turbulence dynamics and its complex interaction with the natural environment. Current topics of interest include dispersion and transport of particles and pollutants in the atmosphere and ocean, turbulence within forests and over complex terrain, turbulence-wave-current interactions in costal oceans, and geophysical boundary-layer dynamics in general. We also work on the development of better numerical models based on the large-eddy simulation technique for geophysical flows.
